1.0 Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for the inspection of the physical plant, grounds and equipment of the organization and making basic repairs to these areas on an as need basis. They will also perform basic preventative maintenance on items identified through the continuous improvement process. They must have previous experience in this area and be highly skilled with various hand and power tools, and be able to read blueprints and repair manuals. They must support all safety initiatives and will be responsible for making changes to create a safe work environment for all employees.
2.0 Reporting Relationships
2.1 The Maintenance Worker (MW) reports directly to the Human Resources/Compliance Manager (HRCM) of Plas-Tech Tooling, Inc.
2.2 The MW is not a supervisory position as it has no direct reports, but they have an advisory role with management, office staff and production employees of Plas-Tech Tooling, Inc. They may be required to provide in-services/training to other employees.
3.0 Job Requirements:
3.1 Education
3.1.1 Required: High School Diploma/GED
3.1.2 Preferred: Associate’s Degree with focus on Industrial Maintenance
3.2 Experience
3.2.1 Required: One year of experience in working in Industrial Maintenance or related field.
3.2.2 Preferred: Two years of experience working in Industrial Maintenance in a manufacturing setting.
3.3 Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
3.3.1 Extensive knowledge working with hand and power tools, equipment repair and a general understanding of blueprints and repair manuals.
3.3.2 Must possess ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written means with management, production staff and external customers.
3.3.3 Requires investigative and analytical skills and the ability to make judgment calls regarding problems and issues that may arise.
3.3.4 Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities at one time.
3.4 Physical Requirements
3.4.1 Body Positions: Physical requirements include sitting (10%), standing (25%), walking (25%) squatting/reaching/pushing/lifting (40%).
3.4.2 Body Movements: Must be able to walk without assistance to safely move throughout the work environment. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and carry over 50 pounds and utilize judgment for lifting items over 50 pounds. Hand and finger dexterity must be sufficient to operate computer keyboards and manipulate small parts and tools. Must be able to squat and reach to work on various pieces of equipment.
3.4.3 Body Senses: Must possess sense of sight (with no color blindness) to interpret drawings and diagrams on a computer screen. Eyesight must be sufficient for moving from a computer screen to a drawing, and reading text as necessary. Must be able to hear for safety in the machine environment.
3.5 Mental Requirements
3.5.1 Mathematical: Must possess skills sufficient to perform calculations.
3.5.2 Language: Must be able to read, write and speak English sufficiently to utilize computer programs, read blueprints/repair manuals and communicate directly management, production staff and customers/vendors.
3.5.3 Spatial Awareness: Requires the ability to read/understand lists, logs, diagrams, and other documents used in support of the maintenance duties at Plas-Tech Tooling, Inc.
4.0 Working Conditions
4.1 The work will be performed primarily indoors in a smoke-free office environment. The employee will be required to move throughout the interior and exterior areas of the plant and grounds. They will be exposed to potential hazards in the form of dust/other particles in the air, noise, moving equipment, and machines with moving parts.
4.2 Hours of work will be flexible (20-40 per week) and generally be performed between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday - Friday. Work hours may vary to complete projects.
5.0 Essential Functions
5.1 Responsible for managing organization wide maintenance activities.
5.2 Make decisions regarding maintenance schedule and repairs.
5.3 Support the creation and maintenance of a safe work environment for all
employees.
5.4 Provide input regarding purchases necessary for regular maintenance and
repairs.
5.5 Serve as a point of contact for outside maintenance contractors.

6.4 Installs equipment as appropriate

6.7 Completes maintenance logs when required
6.8 Reports issues to supervisor or member of senior management
6.9 Active participation in meetings and decision making
